Y6 at St. Paul's Cathedral
On Thursday 30th January 2025, 6 of our Year 6 class represented the school at St. Paul's Cathedral for the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS) annual schools celebration.
The LDBS holds this event every year to gather all of its schools together for a blessing and to pray and sing together in St. Paul's Cathedral. This was the 100th anniversary year of the celebration, and Christ Church (Brondesbury) were asked to write and read the intercession prayers (you can see these below).
Earlier in the term we had a visit from Rev. Robert Coupland, Sacristan at St. Paul's and Sue Watts, from the LDBS. They helped the Year 6 class to work together to write intercession prayers for the Church, the world, Schools, those in need, for our gifts and skills and for our futures.
On the morning of Thursday 30th January, 6 of the children attended St. Paul's to rehearse their prayers for the service with Robert.
After a lunch break (spent by the river Thames) they were joined in the cathedral by the rest of our Year 6 class and by children from all of the schools across London who are served by the LDBS.
Our children read their prayers beautifully in front of a huge crowd and received much praise afterwards fro the way in which they presented themselves. Sue Watts wrote to Mr. Kelly, "I just wanted to send a note to express my heartfelt thanks to you for facilitating your pupils to write and read the prayers at the service yesterday. Their words were thoughtful and beautifully delivered, helping to create a truly special and reflective atmosphere."
Well done to the whole class for the thought you put into your prayers and especially to our 6 readers who showed our school in such a wonderful light. We are very proud of all of you.
