Year 5 Writing - May 2024
During the week of 20th May, Year 5 children were completing some writing based on retelling Beauty and the Beast from characters' points of view.
Below we have a couple of examples of their paired writing efforts...
Maurice
As I wept in despair, I had infinite worry for Belle, who sacrificed herself to live in the castle with the monstrous Beast.
Every day I would go mad, wondering if my only child would return. Fear took over my mind and I felt regret for letting Belle do that.
As a parent, I have a feeling that have let her down.

Gaston
As the ferocious, hideously ugly Beast came to my cage, he said, "You're free to go. But Belle's mine now!"
Over and over again I played that line as I walked out of the horrid castle. Why would Belle do that? If I had the opportunity, I would have stayed in there, so Belle could be free.
I wept every day and night, losing hope minute by minute, hour by hour.
Hope was sparse, but unconditional love was still there...
