Safer Internet Day
Dear Parent/Carer,
While technology and connectivity are critical to children’s futures, their use should never come at the expense of their safety or wellbeing.
Online safety training for your child
To support you in preparing your child for the online world, EE have created a training programme to help children stay safe in different online situations. The children will be taking part in the training program as part of their computing lessons but why not give them a head start by signing up at home too?
Designed together with safer internet organisations and charities, PhoneSmart is an interactive course that helps children gain their online safety licence.
Whether they’re browsing the web, online gaming with friends or using a device, the PhoneSmart programme can help them stay safe and be kind online.
It’s completely free for anyone to sign up and take part in the programme. Once set up, it takes around an hour to complete the five modules and gain their online safety licence.
Find out more about the programme with the EE PhoneSmart Licence Parent Guide or discover more at https://eephonesmart.co.uk/
You can also enter your child into a prize draw to win an Xbox Series X. Enter the prize draw from your dashboard by clicking ‘Enter prize’ button and completing the form for their chance to win.
Tips to put your child’s online safety first
- Provide children with tools, education and guidance for staying safe online.
- Follow clear age-appropriate recommendations and guidelines on the suitability of smartphones for children.
Remember, under 13s are legally underage for most social media services.
While we know there are exceptions, EE don’t recommend giving smartphones to anyone under the age of 11.
