At 11am on 11th November 2024, the children and staff of Christ Church School gathered in the playground to mark Remembrance Day with the rest of the country.

St. Elizabeth class (Year 4/5) crossed the road to Paddington Cemetery to join members of the local community and other schools in a service next to the Commonwealth War Graves led by Mother Christine. These children read prayers and thought soft peace along with children from the other schools and they laid poppy wreaths next to the graves.

Those of us in school were reminded why we gather today - to remember all those affected by wars around the world - and we spent a minute in silence to pray for these people. We also shared some prayers for peace and for those who seek peace around the world.

This service highlighted our term's focus on Respect and the children demonstrated this value very well.
